    Roger on his motorcycle and Duc and Cliff in their Land Cruisers. 
  • Aug 2017 Solar Eclipse Video, from near Hereford, OR
    Susan and Cliff head to eastern Oregon to view the eclipse.  Video shows highlights of eclipse along with its shadow on Earth.
  • Aug 2017 Solar Eclipse Video, from near Hereford, OR. by Tucker Hammerstrom.  My friend Tucker had a great idea to use his drone to show moon’s shadow travel during the eclipse.  The video is about 6x normal speed.
  • Nov 2011 The Narrows Hike Video, Zion National Park, Utah

    Susan and Cliff hike is about 7 1/2 miles round trip in this scenic slot canyon, over 5 miles of it in the river due to narrow canyon.   We were a little tired as this was on way out.

    • GoPro camera was used, a tiny HD waterproof camcorder.  It was on a second trekking pole (extended about 4ft), that has tripod mount on top, with the GoPro attached. The angle of camera is such that you cannot see the pole.

    Flock of Sandhills getting their groove on.
  • Nov 2013 Salmon Run Video, on the American River, Gold River, CA
    Water percolating through the gravel from the Nimbus Fish Hatchery created a false tributary that salmon were checking out. Some underwater shots using a GoPro Hero 3.

  • Sept 2012 Video of Bighorn Sheep, Zion National Park, Utah
    Its the beginning of rutting season and two young rams are practicing, while a younger one seems more interested in playing.

  • Sept 2012 Video of Killer Bees on Sacred Datura, Valley of Fire, NV
    All parts of all Datura plants are toxic and can be fatal if ingested. It is also hallucinogenic and was used by native Americans. According to signs in the park most of the bees in Valley of Fire are likely Africanized Honey Bees, making it unlikely the honey will be harvested.  Hmm, killer bees on drugs. 🙂

Canyoneering Adventures

  • May 2014 Angel Cove Slot Canyon Video, near Hanksville, Utah
    Steve, Don V, Don L & Cliff trip through this canyon required 3 rappels, one of over 80 feet.   From the bottom we hiked back up the ridge line to the trucks.

  • May 2014 Winter Camp Slot Canyon Video, near Moab, Utah
    Steve, Don V, Don L & Cliff rappelled 180 feet to start the hike through this scenic canyon and then hiked out of the canyon to one of the trucks that we staged near the end.

  • Nov 2012 Angel Point Slot Canyon Video, near Hanksville, Utah
    Steve, Randy, Don V, Tucker & Cliff’s trip through this canyon required 3 rappels, one of over 90 feet. The first rappel was a little more advanced than we had done before, as flipping upside down is not considered good form.  From the bottom we hiked back up the ridge line to the trucks.

  • Aug 2019 San Juan Mountains Avalanches Video, Colorado
    Video focuses on the avalanches we found on our trip around Silverton, CO.   It was a record winter and the avalanches were the largest in the recorded history of the area.  It contains footage from the County Road 2 and Corkscrew Pass videos.
  • Aug 2019 San Juan County Road 2 Avalanche Video, Colorado
    Ben, Duc, Don and Cliff check out the remains of a huge avalanche that happened that winter.   Its August and they are still clearing the road.
  • Aug 2019 Arrastra Gulch Trail Video, Silverton, Colorado
    Ben, Duc, Don and Cliff drive to a mine at over 11,000 feet in the San Juan Mountains
  • Aug 2019 Corkscrew Pass Trail Video, Colorado
    Ben, Duc, Don and Cliff travel one of the most scenic spots in the San Juan Mountains.  Also see the remains of a large avalanche on the way down.

    Tucker, Duc, Ben, Vince and Cliff travel the trail enjoying the vistas of the fins of Behind the Rocks with a backdrop of the La Sal Mountains.  The trail has some challenges to keep everyone on their toes.

    Don, Paul, Ben, Vince and Cliff ran the trail with Don taking on The Escalator a tough section most bypass.   The area’s premier 4WD slickrock trail it has some optional tough 4WD challenges.  Also has sweeping views of the La Sal Mountains and Colorado River canyon.

    Richard, Tucker, Don , Vince and Cliff take on some tough ledges and and tight squeezes to enjoy the scenic overlook with Highway 191 about 1300 feet below and Aches National Park beyond.

2015

  • Oct 2015 Stuck in the Mud Video, Capitol Reef National Park, Utah
    Susan and Cliff have their Land Cruiser stuck on Notom Rd near the Burr Trail. After walking through the area several times without sinking, the Land Cruiser was not so lucky. We had dug for 4 hours when 2 road workers showed up from the other direction. They tried to push us out but no go. Due to all the wash outs they drove 2 hours to get behind us and pick up a large tractor, an hour after dark they arrived and pulled us out.
  • May 2015 Flat Iron Mesa Trail Video, Cruise Moab Event, Utah
    Richard, Tucker, Vince, Don and Cliff tackle this trail.  Some tough 4WD drive sections along with views of the La Sal Mountains, local cliffs, and different canyons throughout the trail.

    Debbie, Don, Susan & Cliff travel this 100 mile 4 wheel drive trail in Canyonlands National Park.  Two and half days on the trail with two nights tent camping.

    4×4 trail north of Moab, Utah. Great view of entrance to Arches National Park at end of trail.
